I run a web development company (established in ‘96) and I also teach a popular online course on Internet Marketing. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve spoken with over the past year alone, who have been burned by StoresOnline. At least once a week we get a call from someone who spent six grand on six stores and can’t get them set up. At first, we tried helping people — but the web design interface they offer is the worst!! We can develop an entire e-commerce from scratch faster than we can set up ONE page using their tool. It’s supposed to be easy enough for anyone to do — but it takes forever. You waste most of your time trying to figure it out and then wait (sometimes) forever for stuff to load and update. I hate those do-it-yourself website tools — and this one is the worst! What’s worse is that people try to set up their sites, then when they finally give up, they call support, only to hit with another sales pitch for next-level tech support that costs like FIFTEEN GRAND!! (This is when they typically call us.) My advice to anyone considering going to one of these seminars: do a little research, ask a lot of questions and don’t let them talk you into anything. You have plenty of time to decide, don’t buy anything right there on the spot, on impulse — take what you learn, go home, do more research and THEN consider parting with your money. Their deal is NOT going anywhere — you can always buy from their website later, should you finally decide their program is right for you. Be aware that you can pick up webite templates (for e-commerce sites) for as little as $150, and there’s plenty of “starving” website developers out there who can get you set up and running for much, much less than six grand. |
