T-Online International AG announced today an agreement with Twentieth Century Fox to provide movies for T-Online’s Video-on-Demand (VOD) service. This deal represents a significant expansion in the variety and quality of content available on T-Online’s VOD service from one of Hollywood’s leading studios. T-Online has concluded similar agreements with various international and domestic studios in recent months.
"We are delighted to have secured Twentieth Century Fox as a supplier," says Burkhard Graßmann, Chief Media Officer at T-Online. "The studio has produced such blockbusters as 'Speed', 'Independence Day', 'Titanic' and the current 'The Day After Tomorrow'. Now our offering of films is more attractive and our customers have access to topflight entertainment."
T-Online customers with a broadband T-DSL connection have been able to view cinema films as video streams at www.t-online-vision.de since the end of 2003. Via the ACTIVY Media Center from Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the T-Online Vision Video-on-Demand range has also been viewable on the TV set since March 2004. Additionally, T-Online has concluded cooperation agreements with further hardware manufacturers who will launch similar Set-Top boxes on the market by late 2004.
Via these units too, a T-Online Internet portal optimized for television will then be available featuring latest news and information in the fields of Entertainment, Sports, Movies, Music and Games, E-mail Communication Services and Video-on-Demand.
"Twentieth Century Fox is very pleased to partner with T-Online on this new and exciting home entertainment service. T-Online is a leader in the nascent video on demand market in Germany which gives us an excellent opportunity to develop this new IP distribution platform for our feature films," says Jamie McCabe Senior Vice President of Worldwide Pay-Per-View and Video on Demand, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation.
Fox will supply T-Online with an impressive lineup of current releases, including MASTER & COMMANDER: THE FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD, starring Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany, STUCK ON YOU, starring Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear, and CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN, starring Steve Martin, as well as a variety of hit movies from its extensive film library.
"The contract signed with Twentieth Century Fox is also a clear indication that the Hollywood studios recognize the Video-on-Demand services offered by T-Online as an increasingly significant distribution channel for better exploitation of their products," says Peter Kerckhoff, Content Sourcing and Cooperation Officer at T-Online International AG.
