Intershop Communications (Prime Standard: ISH1), a provider of e-commerce software for global enterprises, today announced that car manufacturer smart is now leveraging Intershop’s Enfinity MultiSite technology for its global website. As well as serving dealers in over 30 countries, the site supports smart centers worldwide.

Last year, smart signed a license agreement with Intershop for Enfinity MultiSite software with the aim of building an enhanced, centrally managed online platform. The project is now complete, and all of smart’s international websites can be accessed from www.smart.com. Customers benefit from a wealth of product information and comprehensive services.

smart gmbh, a wholly owned subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler, operates in more than 30 countries worldwide and deploys Enfinity MultiSite software as the underlying platform for its global website. Intershop’s integrated content management system ensures the worldwide integrity of smart’s corporate identity. An extensive service agreement with Intershop means the site can be easily extended and upgraded to meet changing needs.

smart chose Intershop because of Enfinity’s ability to deliver solutions that meet the expectations of today’s demanding online customers. For Adrian Jarak, e-marketing manager, and Burkhardt Lowe, IT eBiz team leader and project manager, the new platform provides the perfect foundation for further developing smart’s successful e-marketing strategy: “The aim is to deliver an attractive web offering for customers and dealers, one that enables efficient, centralized management and integrates all partners.”
